FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Which madhabs does Zakat Sense support?
All four Sunni schools — Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi'i, and Hanbali — are selectable, plus a contemporary-council layer for modern assets like stocks, cryptocurrency, and retirement accounts. Where the schools genuinely differ, the app shows each valid position rather than presenting one as "the" answer.
Are the rulings backed by sources?
Yes. Every nisab, rate, and ruling is shown with a verifiable source you can check for yourself. For complex personal situations, we always recommend confirming with a qualified scholar.
Where is my financial data stored? Is it private?
Everything you enter — amounts, assets, your Zakat figures, and history — is stored only on your device. It is never sent to us or to anyone else. There is no account and no server holding your finances. See our Privacy Policy for the full detail.
Do I need an account to use the app?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Open the app and start calculating.
Does the app work offline?
Your calculations and saved portfolio work offline. Fetching current gold, silver, exchange, stock, and crypto prices requires an internet connection — the app caches the last known prices so you can keep working, and you can always enter values manually.
What is the Hawl, and how does tracking work?
The Hawl is your personal Zakat year — the lunar year that must pass on your wealth before Zakat is due. Set your Zakat anniversary once, and Zakat Sense follows your lunar year and reminds you when Zakat is due, so you pay on time, on the right date, every year.
How does "Give your Zakat" work? Does the app take a cut?
The app includes a directory of vetted, Zakat-eligible organizations. When you choose one, it opens that charity's own website so you give directly to them. Zakat Sense never handles, holds, processes, or takes a cut of your Zakat.
Is the optional tip my Zakat?
No. All features are free forever. The optional tip ("Support Development") is a voluntary gift to the developer — it is never your Zakat or Sadaqah, and no feature is ever locked behind it.
What languages are supported?
English and Arabic, with full right-to-left support and authentic Arabic typography. You can switch language any time in Settings.
